We had the pleasure of working on a project for a client who had big dreams for her backyard. With a large pool and an expansive blank canvas of a backyard, we knew we had the opportunity to create something truly special. The backyard also butted up against the TPC golf course, which provided us with inspiration for our design.
The golf course had rolling hills and native sabal palms and sand pits, which we wanted to incorporate into our design. We chose a variety of plants, including exotic birds of paradise and jatropha, as well as native species like coontie palms, silver palmettos, dune daisy, and sabal palms. Our goal was to create an aesthetic that would be both exotic and highlight the natural beauty of Florida.
To blend with the golf course, we brought in a bunch of fill dirt and created berms that created motion within the landscape. We also created platforms to show off the plants and tie in with the golf course's rolling topography. One of our favorite details was incorporating crushed coquina shell to mirror the material used in the sand traps on the golf course. It's those little details that really tie everything together and make the design truly special.
Our client was thrilled with our design and even hired us to do her front yard as well. This was our largest project up to that point and one that really helped to give us the confidence we needed to take on bigger jobs in the future. We are so thankful for clients like the Tuggle family who allowed us the opportunity to help bring their dream yard to reality.
The installation process was smooth from start to finish, and we made some great friends with the client along the way. Since then, we have had plenty of referrals from this job and even got the opportunity to landscape the Tuggles' office for their business! We look forward to watching this project grow and helping them however we can.
Overall, this project was a true labor of love, and we are so proud of the final result. The combination of exotic and native plants, the incorporation of the golf course's natural beauty, and the attention to detail all came together to create a truly stunning design. We hope this project inspires others to dream big and create something beautiful in their own backyards.
